Circumplex deep dive: Competitive and Approval bowtie

Bow ties are characterised by primary and secondary styles that are both defensive and directly opposite one another. The Competitive and Approval combination is a common bowtie that reflects the strong need to prove self and win the approval of others by striving for recognition, acceptance, and attention. The internal dialogue or self-talk underpinning this bow tie can be exhausting: 'always has to be right', 'constantly comparing self to others', 'expects to be admired by others' and 'really doesn't want to disappoint others'. Attend this deep dive Connect & Learn session with Justine Farrington to reflect and explore techniques and tips to shift your energy into a more constructive space - one that is aligned with intrinsic rather than extrinsic motivation.
In this session you will:
- Gain an understanding of the Competitive and Approval bowtie
- Reflect on profiles and explore thinking and behaviour options that are less self-defeating and more self-enhancing to help people become happier, healthier and higher performing
- Explore tangible actions that can be taken to help shift time and energy into more constructive styles, satisfaction meeting needs.

Circumplex deep dive: People vs Power/Oppositional

The aggressive/defensive cluster often emphasise tasks over people and are driven by underlying insecurities. When there is an over-reliance on these styles it leads people to focus on their own needs at the expense of others. In this deep dive Connect & Learn session with Justine Farrington we will take a close look at Power and Oppositional styles and what impact they have on the people you work with but also on yourself, your stress and wellbeing. We will explore techniques and exercises to shift your energy into more constructive styles.
In this session you will:
- Gain an understanding of the Oppositional and Power combination
- Reflect on profiles and explore benefits of growing the people styles of Humanistic Encouraging and Affiliative through expressing intent, internal personal skills and relatedness to balance out this task focus
- Share ideas and examples for shifting from confrontation and micromanagement to coaching and collaboration.

Circumplex deep dive: Achievement and Perfectionistic Combination

The Achievement and Perfectionist combination is a common combination for successful individuals who often misattribute achievement to their perfectionistic traits. While wanting to be perfect can at times be "effective", needing to be "perfect" and attaching one's self worth to unrealistic goals can cause a lot of stress and often results in burn-out for self and teams. If Perfectionistic is showing up higher than Achievement there are pitfalls; being overly detailed, getting lost down rabbit holes, losing sight of fit for purpose, rigidity of thought, intolerance of others and of course tension and stress.
Attend this deep dive Connect & Learn session with Justine Farrington to reflect and explore techniques and exercise to unpack the Perfectionism vs Achievement styles and share strategies to shift the balance into a more constructive zone.
In this session you will:
- Gain an understanding of the Achievement and Perfectionistic combination
- Reflect on profiles and explore thinking and behaviour options that are less self-defeating and more self-enhancing to help people become more resilient, contented and achieve sustainable results
- Explore tangible actions that can be taken to help shift thinking and behaviour into more constructive styles
